Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2024 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA records provided show two recalls in the dataset: one affecting the engine valve springs and one for the owner’s manual information. Specifically, the dataset lists an engine recall where valve springs may fracture — a condition reported on earlier BRZ/Impreza/XV models that can cause engine malfunction or stall, increasing crash risk. It also lists a recall to correct inaccurate owner’s manual information about the front passenger occupant classification system that could affect air bag operation. These records originate from NHTSA recall notices and may affect model years cited in those notices. If you own a 2024 Subaru BRZ and are concerned, Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can confirm whether your VIN is implicated and provide free corrective action when applicable.
How do I check if my 2024 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by looking up your VIN on NHTSA.gov or contacting our service team for a free VIN check. We recommend owners run a VIN check at NHTSA and then contact Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley so our factory-trained technicians can verify results and explain next steps. To save time, schedule service online and we will confirm any open recalls during intake. We also offer service financing and list current offers on our service specials page if you need additional repairs beyond covered recall work.
How much does a 2024 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the owner. If an open recall applies, Subaru covers parts and labor; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley performs the repair with OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost. Any non-recall repairs or optional services will be discussed before work begins. For convenience, we offer service financing and current service specials for non-covered work.
Can I get my 2024 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and manufacturer procedures are used and the repair is logged with the manufacturer. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a certified Subaru franchise dealer with OEM diagnostic tools, factory training, and direct manufacturer support; this ensures the repair is recorded with Subaru and the NHTSA if required. Independent shops may not have direct access to manufacturer recall parts or official repair records. To book a visit, schedule service with our certified team and we will handle the recall work free of charge if your vehicle is affected.
How long does a 2024 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Most recall repairs take a few hours to a day depending on parts and labor complexity. Specific timeline depends on the recall: valve spring replacement may require more shop time while owner’s manual corrections are simply mailed or provided quickly; our service advisors provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service. We prioritize safety repairs and communicate ETA clearly. Ask about loaner vehicles, shuttle service, or express drop-off when booking so your schedule is not disrupted.
Does an open recall affect my 2024 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—unresolved recalls can reduce buyer confidence and may negatively impact trade-in offers or resale value. Many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA records; resolving recalls with documented service at a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects resale value and provides proof of proper, OEM repairs. Consider getting recalls resolved before listing your vehicle or trading it in — you can value your trade after service. We also offer financing options to take care of immediate needs and protect long-term value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2024 Subaru BRZ recall?
State inspection rules vary; an open recall is typically a safety concern and may factor into inspections depending on local regulations. Ignoring a safety recall can affect safety certifications, insurance claims, and inspections—Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley recommends resolving recalls promptly to avoid inspection issues and to maintain vehicle safety. To address concerns, schedule service and our team will check recalls for free. We also post current service specials and provide financing to help with any necessary non-recall repairs.
