Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2019 Subaru WRX?
The NHTSA database shows 25 recalls that affect WRX models across multiple model years, including issues with air bag inflators, turbocharger intake ducts, subwoofer wiring, ignition switches, brake components and brake-light switches. Key issues listed by NHTSA include a trunk subwoofer wiring short that can overheat (electrical system), turbocharger air intake duct cracking that can cause engine stall, multiple passenger air bag inflator recalls, ignition switch failures from broken ball springs, brake line corrosion and brake-light switch failures. Corrective actions noted by the manufacturer and NHTSA are free dealer inspections and part replacements where necessary, including inflator replacement, intake-duct replacement, wire retainers for subwoofer wiring, brake-line rustproofing or replacement, and reprogramming driver-assist systems. For NHTSA-sourced details you can contact Subaru customer service at the numbers listed in the recall notices (for example, 1-800-782-2783 or 1-844-373-6614 depending on the campaign) or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley for a free VIN check and repair.
How do I check if my 2019 Subaru WRX has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we'll check your VIN for open recalls at no charge. NHTSA.org allows a VIN lookup that lists open campaigns; our service department also uses OEM diagnostic tools and the manufacturer portal to verify open recalls and applicable remedies for your 2019 Subaru WRX. If you prefer an appointment, schedule service online and our factory-trained technicians will confirm any open recalls and explain the next steps. We also offer service financing to help you get urgent work done now and pay later, even though recall repairs are performed at no cost under the manufacturer program.
How much does a 2019 Subaru WRX recall repair cost?
Recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner under the manufacturer's recall campaign. Subaru-authorized dealers, including Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley, perform recall repairs using OEM parts and factory procedures at no cost; the only potential charges would be for unrelated repairs or elective services not covered by the recall. If you need additional maintenance while in for a recall, ask about our current service specials and available service financing so you can get recommended work done without delay.
Can I get my 2019 Subaru WRX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper programming, and accurate repair records; this protects safety, warranty, and resale value. Independent shops cannot always access manufacturer technical portals, TSBs, or the exact replacement parts and software tools required by Subaru for recall campaigns—Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley uses factory-trained technicians and OEM diagnostics to complete recalls correctly. To be safe and fully compliant with NHTSA guidance, bring your 2019 Subaru WRX to a certified franchise dealer; you can schedule appointment with us now.
How long does a 2019 Subaru WRX recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign; many recall repairs are completed in under half a day, while inflator replacements or parts-ordered repairs may require longer appointments. At Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley our technicians will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service, and we work to minimize your downtime with loaner options or shuttle service where available. If parts are required from Subaru, we will notify you and provide an expected completion date; recall repairs remain free and are prioritized for safety-critical campaigns.
Does an open recall affect my 2019 Subaru WRX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—unresolved recalls can reduce buyer confidence and may lower trade-in or resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at an authorized dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects your vehicle's value and provides documented service history showing manufacturer-required repairs were completed. When you are ready to sell or trade, get a free recall check and then visit our appraisal page to start the process: value your trade.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2019 Subaru WRX recall?
An open recall itself is not typically a direct reason for a safety inspection failure, but certain recall issues (for example, malfunctioning brake lights, brake-line leaks, or engine-stall defects) can cause a vehicle to fail inspection. If a recall affects safety systems that are checked during state inspections, leaving it unresolved can create compliance problems; our technicians will complete required repairs and document the work to keep your vehicle legal and safe. Schedule a free VIN recall check and any necessary repairs at our service center: schedule service, and ask about our service financing if you need flexible payment options.
