What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA records show 2 recalls related to the BRZ line; one affects certain 2013 BRZ models and another concerns an owner’s manual issue, as listed by NHTSA. Summary: An engine valve-spring fracture recall (affecting some 2013 BRZs and other Subaru/Toyota models) can cause an engine malfunction or stall; a separate owners manual recall affects some 2013 BRZs where the front passenger occupant classification description is incorrect. Action: If you own a 2018 Subaru BRZ, bring it to a certified dealer for a VIN check—some recalls are year-specific—so we can confirm if your vehicle is affected and arrange free repairs. Reference: These items are documented in NHTSA records and manufacturer recall notices; contact Subaru at 1-844-373-6614 for recall WTY-84 or 1-800-782-2783 for manual replacement guidance.
How do I check if my 2018 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
Check by VIN: The fastest method is to check your vehicle identification number (VIN) against NHTSA and Subaru records, which will show open recalls. We can check for you for free—visit Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley or schedule service and our factory-trained technicians will run the VIN lookup and advise next steps. You may also enter your VIN at NHTSA.gov or call Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 for confirmation.
How much does a 2018 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Recall repairs are free: Manufacturer recall repairs are performed at no cost to the owner when completed at a certified franchise dealer. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley performs recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians, and we’ll honor all warranty/recall work without a charge. If you need flexible payment for non-recall service, we offer service financing so you can get repairs now and pay later; ask our service advisors when you schedule service.
Can I get my 2018 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
You must visit a manufacturer-authorized dealer to receive official, free recall repairs and OEM parts; independent shops cannot perform free manufacturer recall repairs. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a certified Subaru franchise dealer with OEM diagnostic tools and factory-trained technicians ready to perform recall repairs at no charge.
How long does a 2018 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Turnaround varies: Many recall repairs are completed in a few hours, but some repairs or parts delivery can take longer depending on part availability and the specific recall fix. When you schedule service at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley we’ll provide an estimated completion time and advise on loaner or shuttle options if available.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—an unresolved recall can reduce trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer preserves vehicle value; you can get a free VIN recall check and then protect your car’s resale appeal—visit our trade-in page to learn more.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Subaru BRZ recall?
Possibly—some safety-related recalls (like engine stalling or airbag system misinformation) can lead to inspection issues or insurance complications if unaddressed. Fixing recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley ensures your vehicle meets safety standards and reduces the risk of failing state inspections; schedule service today to confirm your status.
