Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA database contains two BRZ-related recalls; both notices reference prior model-year issues (notably 2013) and should be checked against your VIN to confirm applicability to a 2016 Subaru BRZ. One recall concerns engine valve springs that can fracture and cause engine malfunction or stall; the other concerns an inaccurate owner manual description of the passenger occupant classification system.
How do I check if my 2016 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check your VIN online at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will check recalls for free. To have us verify and, if needed, schedule service, contact our service department or use our online scheduler; we also offer service financing to help you get repairs now and pay later.
How much does a 2016 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge at certified dealers; there is no cost for approved recall work. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley performs recall repairs with OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; ask about available service specials for unrelated maintenance.
Can I get my 2016 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed under the manufacturer’s program; only a certified franchise dealer can perform covered recall repairs at no cost to the owner. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley uses OEM diagnostic tools and factory training to ensure the recall is remedied correctly and documented with the manufacturer.
How long does a 2016 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall and parts availability; many recall repairs are completed within a single business day, but some engine-related repairs may take longer. We recommend you schedule appointment so we can confirm expected turnaround and provide a precise estimate; ask about service financing if you need alternate payment options.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may negatively affect trade-in or resale value; many dealers and buyers check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolve recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley to protect value and obtain documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs prior to listing or trading in your vehicle; visit our trade-in page to start an appraisal.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Subaru BRZ recall?
State inspection requirements vary by state; unresolved safety-related recalls, especially those affecting airbags or engine performance, can create compliance concerns during inspections. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can confirm recall status and complete required recall repairs free of charge to help keep your vehicle inspection-ready in Greeley, CO and nearby areas.
