Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2026 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls affecting the Subaru BRZ line, summarized for owners of the 2026 Subaru BRZ. One recall involves engine valve springs that may fracture (reported for certain 2013 BRZ models), which can cause an engine malfunction or stall and increase crash risk. The second recall concerns inaccurate information in the owner's manual about the front passenger occupant classification system, which could increase injury risk in certain crashes; corrected manuals are mailed free of charge. Both recalls are recorded by the NHTSA; dealers will perform the required repairs or mail corrected materials at no charge to owners.
How do I check if my 2026 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle's recall status by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or by contacting Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley. Bring your VIN to our service team and we will verify any open recalls free of charge and advise next steps. To expedite repairs, schedule service online or call our service department in Greeley, CO. We also offer service financing and can help you plan appointments around your schedule.
How much does a 2026 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealers; there is no cost to the owner for covered recall work. At Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley, recall repairs use OEM parts and are completed by factory-trained technicians at no cost under the manufacturer's recall program. If related maintenance is needed that is not part of the recall, our team will explain any charges before work begins and can discuss financing options.
Can I get my 2026 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and manufacturer's procedures are followed; use your local certified Subaru dealer for free recall work. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a factory-authorized Subaru franchise with OEM diagnostic tools and manufacturer training required for safe, compliant recall repairs. If you choose an independent shop for non-recall repairs, be aware that recall work and warranty-related services should be handled by a dealer to preserve your protections.
How long does a 2026 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: some fixes are parts-only (like replacing valve springs) and may take several hours; corrected manuals are mailed and require no shop visit. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley provides time estimates when you schedule appointment and will advise if a loaner or shuttle is available. Check current service specials for any convenience offerings and ask about service financing when booking.
Does an open recall affect my 2026 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact resale and trade-in value because buyers and dealers check NHTSA records and may discount vehicles with open recalls. Having recalls completed at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects your value and demonstrates the vehicle was serviced by a certified Subaru dealer; you can get an appraisal at our trade-in page after repairs. Resolving recalls also protects against insurance or inspection issues that arise when a known safety defect goes unaddressed.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2026 Subaru BRZ recall?
Some state inspections or safety checks may flag unresolved recalls if they affect emissions or safety systems; it's best to clear open recalls promptly. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can verify recall status and complete required repairs to help you pass inspections in Colorado and surrounding areas. If you need to schedule service, our team will provide timelines and explain any inspection-related concerns; service financing is available if needed.
