Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2020 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA records show 2 recalls relevant to BRZ models in the database we reviewed; these relate to engine valve springs (affecting certain earlier model years and related Subaru/Toyota platforms) and an owners manual correction for airbag/passenger classification for specific 2013 vehicles. The specific engine recall notes fractured valve springs that can cause engine malfunction or a stall, increasing crash risk; the owners manual recall corrects inaccurate occupant classification information that could affect airbag behavior in certain older vehicles. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley monitors NHTSA updates and will perform manufacturer recall repairs free of charge when applicable.
How do I check if my 2020 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on the NHTSA website or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will check free of charge. Visit NHTSA.gov and enter your VIN for an official lookup, or call our service team and we will verify the recall status for you. If a recall is open we will notify you and can help you schedule service right away; financing options are available so you can get service now and pay later.
How much does a 2020 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge at a certified Subaru dealer, including Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley. There is no out-of-pocket cost for parts or labor for an approved recall repair under the manufacturer program; incidental services outside recall scope may be billed separately and can qualify for service financing. We recommend you schedule appointment so our advisors can confirm the remedy and timing for your vehicle.
Can I get my 2020 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory software, and proper documentation; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a certified Subaru franchise dealer able to perform free recall repairs. An independent shop may not have Subaru factory training, OEM parts, or the ability to process the manufacturer’s recall claim and warranty paperwork, which can affect your repair coverage and resale records. For safety and long-term value, we recommend visiting our certified service center in Greeley and you can schedule service online; ask about our service financing to manage any non-recall work.
How long does a 2020 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair time varies by the recall remedy but most manufacturer recall repairs can be completed in a few hours to a day; we will give you an estimated turnaround when you arrive or when you schedule service. For example, replacing valve springs or related engine components may require more time than a manual update or owner’s manual mailing, so timing depends on the specific remedy and parts availability. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley strives for fast, safe turnaround and offers loaner options and service specials found on our service specials page.
Does an open recall affect my 2020 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce resale and trade-in value because buyers and dealers often check NHTSA records and require recalls to be completed before purchase; resolving recalls protects value. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley will perform the free recall repair and provide documentation showing the remedy was completed, which helps preserve the vehicle’s resale profile. If you are considering a trade, get an appraisal via our value your trade tool and have any open recalls fixed at our dealership to maximize offer value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2020 Subaru BRZ recall?
Some states or safety inspections may consider active recalls when evaluating roadworthiness, so open safety-related recalls can complicate inspections. Serious recalls affecting engine performance or airbag systems could lead to regulatory or insurance complications; having the repair completed at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley ensures proper documentation for inspections. If you have inspection concerns, contact our service department and schedule appointment; we also offer service financing so necessary work can be completed promptly.
