8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls that may affect the 2017 Subaru BRZ, covering the engine valve springs and inaccuracies in the owner’s manual. Specifically, recalls reference an engine valve spring fracture that can cause an engine malfunction or stall, and an owner’s manual misstatement about the passenger occupant classification/airbag system; both items are listed in NHTSA records.
How do I check if my 2017 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to our service department for a free VIN recall check. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley will verify recalls at no charge; if a recall applies we will perform the corrective work free of charge—you can also schedule service online and ask about our service financing options.
How much does a 2017 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge when performed at an authorized Subaru dealer. At Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley, recall repairs use OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost to you; if other non-recall work is needed we can discuss pricing and available service specials or service financing.
Can I get my 2017 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a qualified facility; a manufacturer-authorized Subaru dealer is the recommended and safest choice for free recall repair. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley has factory-trained technicians, OEM diagnostic tools, and direct manufacturer support to ensure recalls are fixed according to Subaru standards—this protects safety, warranty, and resale value.
How long does a 2017 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall; many recall repairs can be completed in a few hours, while more complex repairs may take longer. When you schedule appointment at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley we will provide an estimated turnaround time; we prioritize recall work and offer comfortable waiting options and quick follow-up.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects the vehicle’s market value; to get an appraisal and ensure recalls are cleared, visit our trade-in page and consider taking advantage of our service financing if any paid work is needed.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Subaru BRZ recall?
A recall itself is not always a direct inspection failure, but safety-related recalls (like engine stall or occupant protection issues) can lead to inspection or registration complications in some jurisdictions. Clearing recalls at a certified dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley ensures your 2017 Subaru BRZ meets safety expectations and avoids potential registration or insurance complications; schedule service to have us check your vehicle.
