Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Subaru Impreza?
The NHTSA database lists 40 recall entries related to Impreza and shared components that may affect the 2016 Subaru Impreza, including brake light switches (7), air bag inflators (13), engine issues (4), brake-line corrosion (6), ignition and electrical items (8), a fuel pump recall (1), an ECM issue (1), and a CVT lever nut recall (1). Primary consumer risks include brake-light failure that can prevent lights from illuminating and stopping issues, air bag inflator rupture risk, engine stalls from fractured valve springs or ignition short circuits, and potential brake fluid leaks from corroded lines. All of these entries are sourced from NHTSA records; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can confirm whether your vehicle is affected and will perform any manufacturer-mandated repairs free of charge.
How do I check if my 2016 Subaru Impreza has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring the vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will verify recalls for free. Provide your VIN and we will look up NHTSA records and Subaru manufacturer notifications; if a recall applies, we will explain the defect, consequences, and the required corrective action. You may also schedule service online for a VIN recall check or call our service team; we offer service financing so repairs can be completed now and paid for later.
How much does a 2016 Subaru Impreza recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley. That includes parts, labor, and any required software updates or component replacements specified by Subaru in the NHTSA recall notices. If you qualify for additional service or maintenance outside the recall scope, ask about our current service specials and financing options.
Can I get my 2016 Subaru Impreza recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall work must be completed per manufacturer instructions and is only guaranteed when done by a certified franchise dealer; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a factory-authorized Subaru dealer that performs recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians. Independent shops may be able to perform certain repairs, but only a Subaru franchise dealer guarantees compliance with Subaru’s recall procedures and will register the remedy with the manufacturer and NHTSA. We recommend calling ahead or using our online scheduler so we can prepare OEM parts and prioritize your vehicle for same-day or next-day service whenever possible.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Subaru Impreza's trade-in or resale value?

Open recalls can sometimes impact inspection outcomes if the recall affects safety systems required by state inspection; unresolved safety recalls are a known red flag during inspection and sale. Addressing recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley ensures mechanical and safety compliance and reduces the chance of inspection issues; we can also advise about Colorado inspection standards and how a recall remedy may be reflected in your vehicle paperwork.
