Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek?
The NHTSA has issued 4 recalls affecting the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek, impacting brake light switches, the Eyesight forward-collision system, engine valve springs, and certain remote engine starter fobs. These recalls cover: a brake light switch defect that can disable brake lights and prevent keyless starts, an Eyesight reprogramming issue tied to the brake switch, a valve spring fracture risk that can cause engine stall, and replacement of certain remote engine starter fobs. All recall repairs are performed free of charge by authorized dealers like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley using OEM parts.
How do I check if my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to our service department for a free VIN recall check. Call Subaru customer service or visit the NHTSA database for official recall notices, or contact Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will verify recalls for you. If you prefer to act now, schedule service and our technicians will confirm and advise next steps.
How much does a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek are free of charge when completed at an authorized Subaru dealer. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley performs recall work at no cost using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians so there are no out-of-pocket repair costs for covered recalls. We also offer service financing if you need additional non-recall work performed at the same visit.
Can I get my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized Subaru dealer to ensure OEM parts and factory reprogramming procedures are used; that keeps the repair free and compliant. Independent shops cannot always access Subaru proprietary reprogramming tools or manufacturer-supplied replacement parts, so visiting Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects your warranty and safety compliance. To avoid delays and guarantee correct repair, schedule service with our certified team.
How long does a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many fixes (like switch replacement or software reprogramming) often take under a few hours; valve spring replacement may take longer. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment; we prioritize recall work and offer courtesy shuttles where available. Check our current offers under service specials for efficiency options and ask about service financing if you need it.
Does an open recall affect my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—unresolved recalls can lower trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers review NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley with dealer documentation preserves vehicle value and provides buyer confidence; you can get an appraisal at our trade-in page. Clearing recalls is a quick step to protect resale value and prevent negotiation reductions tied to open safety campaigns.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek recall?
Some recalls—like non-functioning brake lights—can cause inspection failures in certain states if the defect affects required safety systems. Because NHTSA-classified defects (e.g., brake-light switch issues) impact safety equipment, addressing recall repairs at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley helps ensure your vehicle meets inspection standards. If you need immediate help, schedule service and our team will check recalls and repair items so you pass inspection.
