Frequently Asked Questions

7 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX?
The NHTSA has issued multiple recalls affecting the 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX, including 13 air bag-related recalls, 2 ignition recalls, 2 brake light recalls, and 4 brake-line recalls. The most serious group involves air bag inflators that could explode and send metal fragments into the cabin; other recalls include ignition switch failures that could shut off the engine and brake component issues that can cause fluid leaks or brake light failures. All recall repairs are free under the manufacturer program and should be completed at a certified franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley to ensure OEM parts and correct procedures.
How do I check if my 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX has an open recall?
You can check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will check it for you at no charge. Our service team uses OEM diagnostic tools and Subaru dealer systems to verify open campaigns and will explain any NHTSA notice found for your VIN. To book time with our factory-trained technicians, schedule service online or call the service department; we also list current service specials.
How much does a 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner. If your vehicle requires additional non-recall work, our service advisors will provide a transparent estimate and explain available payment options, including service financing to help you get urgent work done now and pay later. Always insist on recall work at a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley to ensure OEM parts and warranty-protected service.
Can I get my 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed under the manufacturer program; while independent shops may perform some repairs, recall remedies that require dealer access to Subaru parts, technical bulletins, and dealer-only replacement parts should be completed at a certified Subaru dealer. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley is a factory-authorized Subaru dealer with OEM parts, Subaru-specific tooling, and technicians trained on NHTSA recall procedures. If you need to schedule appointment for a recall check, we will inspect and apply the recall remedy at no cost and document the repair in manufacturer systems.
How long does a 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX recall repair take?
Most recall repairs for the 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX are completed in one visit and often take from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on parts availability and the specific campaign. Air bag inflator or brake-line replacements can take longer if parts must be ordered; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley will give an accurate estimate when you schedule service. If there is a delay, we will explain expected timing, offer loaner options when available, and attempt to minimize disruption for drivers across Greeley and surrounding communities.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—an unresolved recall can lower trade-in and resale value because buyers and dealers often check NHTSA records and may reduce offers if safety campaigns remain open. Completing recall work at a certified dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects vehicle value and provides documented repair records for future buyers and appraisals. When you are ready, get an appraisal at our trade-in page Value Your Trade after recall repairs to maximize your vehicle’s market value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Subaru Impreza WRX recall?
An open recall itself is not typically listed as a failed inspection item, but safety-related defects from recalls—such as non-functioning brake lights or compromised braking—can cause inspection failures. Addressing recalls promptly at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley ensures systems like air bags, brake lights, and brake lines meet safety standards and reduces the chance of inspection or insurance complications. If you need help, schedule service and our technicians will inspect recall items and provide the free manufacturer remedy if required. These recall entries are based on NHTSA records; if your vehicle VIN returns any open campaigns, schedule service with Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley to receive free manufacturer recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians. Schedule service today to resolve recalls promptly and protect safety, insurance, and resale value.
