Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls affecting the 2014 Subaru BRZ: an engine valve-spring fracture risk and an owners manual accuracy issue related to the passenger classification/air bag information. Component details: the engine recall concerns valve springs that may fracture and cause an engine malfunction or stall; the owners manual recall corrects inaccurate passenger classification system descriptions that could affect air bag deployment guidance. Consequence and authority: NHTSA records note an increased crash or injury risk if the engine stalls or if occupants receive incorrect air bag operation guidance. Action: All recall repairs are performed free of charge by manufacturer dealers; to protect safety, contact Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley or schedule service immediately.
How do I check if my 2014 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley where we will check your VIN and recall status for free. If you don’t have your VIN handy, our service team can look it up when you schedule service and confirm any open manufacturer recalls recorded by NHTSA. We use OEM diagnostic tools and factory-trained technicians to verify recalls and explain needed corrective actions at no cost.
How much does a 2014 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2014 Subaru BRZ are free of charge when performed under Subaru’s manufacturer recall program. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley performs recall repairs at no cost using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; if you need additional non-recall work, ask about our current service specials and service financing options to pay over time. Contact our service team or schedule service to confirm coverage and timing.
Can I get my 2014 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by a certified dealer to ensure manufacturer parts, service records, and warranty compliance; for Subaru recalls you should bring your vehicle to a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley. Independent shops cannot complete or document manufacturer recall repairs in the OEM recall system; using a franchise dealer preserves vehicle history, resale value, and manufacturer warranty protections. Schedule a recall appointment at our service center online to get the repair done correctly and for free: schedule service.
How long does a 2014 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Most recall repairs are completed within a few hours, but actual time varies; the engine valve-spring replacement may require additional labor compared with a manual replacement or paperwork mailing. When you schedule service, our team will provide a more accurate estimate based on the specific recall and parts availability—Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians to minimize downtime. We also offer service specials and finance options if any unrelated maintenance is needed while your vehicle is in the shop: service specials.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because dealers and buyers often check NHTSA and manufacturer records before purchase. Having recall repairs completed and documented at a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley protects resale value and buyer confidence—use our online tool to value your trade after recall work is finished. Scheduling and completing recalls at an authorized dealer keeps your vehicle compliant and may improve the offer you receive from a dealership or private buyer.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Subaru BRZ recall?
While recalls do not always directly cause inspection failure, some safety-related recalls (like air bag system guidance or engine stall risks) can create inspection or registration complications depending on state rules. To avoid potential inspection issues, have open recalls addressed promptly by a certified Subaru dealer; Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can confirm status and complete required recall repairs at no cost. If you need immediate assistance, schedule service and ask about our service financing options to get the repair done now and pay later.
