Frequently Asked Questions

12 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2019 Subaru Outback?
The NHTSA lists 32 recall actions affecting the 2019 Subaru Outback, covering components such as steering, airbags, transmission, fuel pump, and structure. Common issues in these recalls include potential steering column disengagement, passenger airbag inflator defects, CVT and transmission concerns, a low-pressure fuel pump that can fail, and spot-weld issues that may reduce body strength. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley monitors NHTSA updates and can verify your vehicle's status and perform any required free repairs — schedule service online or call our service center for guidance.
How do I check if my 2019 Subaru Outback has an open recall?
Use your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to a certified dealer to confirm open recalls. You can also contact Subaru customer service at the numbers listed on NHTSA notices, or bring your VIN to Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley and we will check for free and advise next steps. If you prefer in-person help, schedule appointment with our factory-trained technicians and we will run the official manufacturer lookup and explain any required repairs.
How much does a 2019 Subaru Outback recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner. At Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley the recall repair labor and OEM parts required under Subaru campaigns are covered by Subaru — there is no cost for authorized recall work. If additional non-recall services are recommended, we will notify you and can discuss payment options; we also offer service financing so you can get service now and pay later.
Can I get my 2019 Subaru Outback recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure the repair is completed to factory standards and properly documented with the manufacturer. Independent shops cannot enroll a vehicle in manufacturer recall campaigns or guarantee OEM parts and factory diagnostics; a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley provides manufacturer-trained techs, OEM parts, and official claim processing. For your safety and to preserve warranty and resale value, schedule your free recall repair at our service center — schedule service or check our current service specials before you visit.
How long does a 2019 Subaru Outback recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: some fixes are software updates or fluid flushes that take under an hour, while component replacements (steering column, propeller shaft, or airbag inflators) may take several hours or require parts ordering. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley uses OEM diagnostic tools and factory-trained technicians to complete recall repairs as quickly as safety allows and to minimize your downtime. To get a closer estimate and to avoid waiting, schedule appointment and we will provide an expected turnaround time when we confirm the specific recall remedy for your VIN.
Does an open recall affect my 2019 Subaru Outback's trade-in or resale value?
Yes. Unresolved recalls can lower trade-in offers and reduce buyer confidence because dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer protects vehicle value and ensures the repairs are documented by the manufacturer — Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley will complete recalls with OEM parts and log the repairs properly to preserve your resale value. If you are considering selling or trading your vehicle, get recalls fixed first; you can start a valuation at our trade page: value your trade.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2019 Subaru Outback recall?
Open recalls usually do not directly cause a failed emissions or safety inspection, but some recall issues (brake or lighting faults, steering, or airbag problems) can affect inspection outcomes or vehicle safety compliance. Beyond inspection risk, driving with open safety recalls could endanger occupants and might affect insurance claims in the event of a crash. We recommend resolving open recalls promptly at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley; schedule service or review our service specials and ask about service financing to handle any non-recall needs.
Safety Risks You Can't Ignore
The safety of you and your passengers is the top priority. The NHTSA has issued 32 recalls affecting the 2019 Subaru Outback that include high-risk components such as steering columns that may disengage, air bag inflators that can explode, and a low-pressure fuel pump that may stop the engine without restart. Each of these defects can directly increase the risk of a crash or serious injury; for example, steering failures can cause loss of directional control and airbag inflator failures can release sharp fragments in a crash. Ignoring a manufacturer recall could also complicate insurance claims or state inspection outcomes if a defect contributes to an incident. At Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley our factory-trained technicians prioritize safety and follow Subaru's official recall procedures using OEM parts and diagnostic equipment. Recall repairs are completed free of charge under the manufacturer program, and we advise scheduling as soon as a recall affects your VIN.
