Introducing the BRZ tS and WRX STI Type RA

The first sign of spring is upon us. Spring for a Subaru enthusiast means one thing: Bringing out the performance machines!

Subaru has taken another step further. For 2018, Subaru Tecnica International - better known as STI - has taken a couple of our current products and made them even hotter.

This spring, Subaru will bring out the limited edition BRZ tS and WRX STI Type RA.

The BRZ tS takes one of the purest sports cars in Colorado and enhanced its handling and suspension set up further for track-like performance. Enhancements include STI-tuned front and rear SACHS dampers and coil springs as well as an STI flexible V-brace in the engine compartment. New draw stiffeners are added to the chassis and sub-frame to improve steering response.

Plus, the BRZ gets 18-inch wheels for the first time - fitted with lightweight STI wheels that are mounted with 215/40 R 18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires for superior grip and quicker turn-in. A high-performance braking system, using Brembo rotors, 4-piston front calipers and 2-piston rear calipers, enhances stopping power, fade resistance and pedal feel.

This track weapon is priced from $33,495. There will only be 500 of these special BRZs available.

The WRX STI is already a weapon on the track and in the rally world. Subaru decided to enhance this car further by creating the Type RA limited edition model.

The Type RA gets an upgraded Bilstein STI sport-tuned suspension featuring special Bilstein dampers for the inverted-strut front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension. A modified Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system gives the performance sedan enhanced stability control to keep it on its intended path. Type RA models will get a set of BBS forged alloy wheels finished in gold.

The Type RA will also receive a lot of the updates the WRX and WRX STI will get for 2018. Including, a new set of Brembo performance brakes that now feature stronger monoblock 6-piston calipers in front, monoblock 2-piston calipers in the rear and larger, cross-drilled rotors all around for better heat dissipation. New brake pads provide greater surface area for improved braking feel and fade resistance. The calipers feature an exclusive silver finish on the WRX STI Type RA. This is among the many upgrades seen across the WRX lineup, with a few distinctions.

Pricing for the Type RA starts at $48,995 with only 500 vehicles available.

These rare Subarus are those who want more out their sports machines. So, remember, there are only 500 examples each of these STI-tuned Subarus. You can be one of the lucky ones to run one down at High Plains Raceway. Or, a run down to Denver to meet with your enthusiast friends. Be one of the few to own one, see us at Greeley Subaru.
