What the service covers on the 2020 Subaru Ascent
An oil change for the 2020 Subaru Ascent starts with draining the used engine oil and refilling it with the oil grade and capacity specified by the manufacturer. The service also includes a new oil filter, which helps the lubrication system manage heat and debris as the engine operates. Afterward, the oil life monitor is reset, and underhood fluid levels are checked.
Engine oil gradually loses its additive package and its ability to carry heat and debris, even when it does not look especially dirty. That is why the manufacturer’s interval is based on mileage and time rather than appearance. The 2020 Subaru Ascent schedule calls for an oil and filter replacement every 6,000 miles.
An oil-change reminder light, mileage beyond the last service, dark or low oil on the dipstick, or a ticking or louder engine note at startup can indicate that service is due. Drivers can schedule service with Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley.
