2019 Subaru Ascent Oil Filter in Greeley, CO

The published schedule calls for oil filter replacement every 6,000 miles. Replacing both together keeps the filter from being carried across two oil changes as its media collects debris. Service history and the manufacturer's schedule help determine when the next visit is due.

• Filter replacement is paired with the oil service.
• The filter holds debris carried by the oil.
• The filter seal is checked after the engine runs.

The filter is matched to the engine's specification rather than treated as a universal part. The sealing item is renewed where this engine uses one, and the engine is run so the filter seal can be inspected. Schedule an appointment at Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley for the service.

• Filter matched to the engine fitted in the vehicle.
• Drain plug gasket or washer renewed where used.
• Filter seal checked for leaks after the engine runs.

A loaded filter does not stop the engine getting oil; it stops the engine getting filtered oil. Drivers may notice an oil-pressure warning, a noisier engine, or oil that darkens quickly after a change. An inspection and the manufacturer's schedule help determine the appropriate service timing.

• Debris accumulates in the filter media.
• The bypass valve can allow unfiltered oil to circulate.
• Oil-filter service is scheduled every 6,000 miles by the manufacturer.

A correctly matched filter needs to fit and seal the engine while capturing debris from the circulating oil. The engine's displacement and cylinder configuration are important when selecting the filter. Mike Shaw Subaru Greeley can match the filter to the engine actually fitted during the service.

• Engine displacement: 2.4 liters.
• Engine configuration: four-cylinder flat-four.
• Filter selection is matched to the engine.

Keeping the filter for another change allows more debris to collect in its media. Once the filter loads, its bypass valve opens and oil circulates unfiltered. The vehicle's service history and the manufacturer's schedule determine when filter replacement is due, while pairing it with the oil service addresses both items together.

• The filter captures debris carried by engine oil.
• A loaded filter may open its bypass valve.
• Filter replacement is scheduled with the oil service.
